Background | Last updated 11/7/10

This section of the website firstly details the existing fleet size that is either stored or serviceable. Sadly, I have to report that there are currently 15 class 90s in storage, but more importantly 35 remain operational. The latest reinstatement was 90039 on 30th April 2010.

My overall arching aim now that the class 90s have entered its 22nd year of operations, is to give serious consideration to preservation. Therefore this part of the site shall be used to spearhead the preservation idea, and gauge what kind of support I can achieve or what interest that is out there.

It would be great to hear from anyone who can provide ideas on how to tackle the task of preservation or even become involved - It must be noted that any movement towards preserving some of the fleet is in its very early stages of development and consultation.

On a more cynical note, class 90s have not always been at the forefront of people’s interest, but I hope to alter this perception by at least making some attempt to preserving some or all of the fleet. Finally, those 90s that are stored or serviceable have been listed below. This includes:

A list of those that remain in traffic including their associated TOC / FOC can be found below.
